This tour in particular reveals the history of the slave trade by the Europeans along the coasts of Africa.
Both Cape Coast and Elmina have one thing in common; castles which have been classified as World Heritage Monuments by
UNESCO's world Heritage Foundation due to their importance in the slave trade days. The slaves were brought here from various
areas in the country to be sold and shipped to North, Central and South America or anywhere their masters would take them.
Day 1
Accra - Cape Coast
After an early breakfast we leave for Cape Coast, the capital town of Central Region, which is situated at about 144 km west
of Accra. On the way to Cape Coast from Accra are several fishing villages with attractive beaches, beautified with coconut
trees. The Museums and Monuments Board provide a guided tour of Cape Coast castle.
You will be dropped of at your hotel before dinner.
Day 2
Cape Coast - Kakum National Park - Elmina - Accra
After an early breakfast in your hotel we will go to Kakum National Park. The Kakum forest, a typical dense tropical rain
forest with herbal plants and trees is situated at approximately 30 km off Cape Coast. The 350 meter long canopy walk at 40
meters above the ground is an experience you will hardly forget.
From Kakum we depart to Elmina. In Elmina we will visit the Castle of St George (Elmina Castle), Fort St. Jago, the Dutch
Cemetery and many of the Asafo shrines dotted along the city.
After lunch we will depart for Accra again. We will arrive at your hotel before dinner.
